In north Italy, placed in convenient driving distance from North Europe, is Lake Garda. The area around Lake Garda is very popular, since it offers something for all interests and ages, whether you want to experience nature and culture or a relaxing holiday with sunbathing and fun water sports, this is the place. 

 

If you want an active holiday, you have rich opportunity to go on hikes in the area or if you want more speed, go on challenging bicycle trips in the rolling landscape. The areas Tignale and Tremosine, which lay on the northwest side of the lake, have some beautiful tall mountains, perfect for an active holiday. Lake Garda is also a beloved holiday destination for wine lovers. You can experience beautiful and luxuriant vineyards that among others provide grapes to the wines Ripasso and Amarone. What about spending a day tasting wine in idyllic surroundings?      

 

If you want more life and plenty of fun family activities, you should go to the eastern part of Lake Garda. Garda City is the centre of this popular holiday area and offers plenty of camping areas, resorts and holiday homes. In this area you also find amusement parks such as Gardaland, which is a sure hit with the kids. East of Lake Garda you also find the beautiful waterfall park, Parco della Cascate, which invites you in to 80,000 square metres of small streams and beautiful waterfalls.   

 

Another lovely activity for the entire family is the picturesque city Venice, where you get to sail in gondolas and feed pigeons on St Mark's Square. Both Venice and Milan can be reached within a 2,5 hours drive and are therefore perfect options for a one day-trip. You could also very well combine a vacation by Lake Garda with a couple of days in one of the two exciting cities.
